The basis of our selection of different gabions for garden, property and more are the standard gabions. They are available in various dimensions and designs and impress with their functionality and durability. You will get to know the material properties and designs in the following.
In addition to the popular standard gabions, we also sell other variants and recommend hot-dip galvanised gabions. They meet the highest demands. In addition to the classic dimensions, we also manufacture the special variant to measure on request. The standard dimensions also apply to our standard gabions.
The characteristics of our standard gabions
All our standard gabions are made of galvanised wire with a diameter of 4 millimetres. The coating is a zinc-aluminium mixture, which ensures that your gabions are weatherproof and UV-resistant. Since stone gabions are placed outside, they have to cope with all the challenges of the open air.
Gabions are not only differentiated by their dimensions, which we discuss in the following point, but additionally by the mesh size. This describes the dimensions of the individual squares or rectangles that make up all gabions. For standard gabions, you can choose between:
5 x 5 cm
5 x 10 cm
10 x 10 cm
5 x 20 cm
What can the wire mesh withstand?
Our standard gabions are subjected to various tests and must meet our and, above all, your high standards. The wire has a tensile strength of over 500 N/mm2. The welding points that hold all the mesh together are also important for the stability of our products. They must have a shear strength of around 3.5 kN.
The standard gabions and other gabion models are delivered to you in packages with several grids. There are two options for fastening them together. You can choose between rings and spirals for closing the edges. Spirals are a very simple and, above all, quick method of connecting the grids. You do not need any tools.
If you prefer a ring connection, a simple C-ring pliers is included in every order, along with the so-called C-rings. You can use them to connect the grids securely.
Filling the standard gabions
Gabions get their final stability, of course, from the respective filling material, which, depending on the size, consists of several kilograms of stone. The various gabion stones differ in appearance and in the average sizes of their diameters. Choose the stones according to your taste. If you do not know exactly how many packages would be appropriate for your order, we will be happy to advise you on this.

Selection of standard gabions for various purposes
Gabions, also called stone baskets, are flexible structures that are used for various purposes. They stand as walls and property boundaries and work on their own or with vegetation. Gabions can be piled high or used as seating or windbreaks for plants. Narrower models separate different areas in the garden.
The stone baskets are a dominant part of the plot and are considered too unadorned by some. Others appreciate their effect, which blends in well with rock gardens, among other things. Thus they become an ornamental or design element in suitable surroundings. Because of their heavy weight when filled, they are chosen to secure slopes or embankments for very practical reasons.
Raised beds and other enclosures such as at a fireplace make them a real all-rounder, depending on their size. In our selection on standard gabions, you make a decision and choose the right models for your circumstances.
With us you will discover mainly three shapes: Cubes, cuboids and wall-like, rather narrow cuboids. Of course, they are suitable for forming a uniform wall or boundary. But you can also combine them with each other.
Small cubes are available as standard gabions with an edge length of 30 cm. They can serve as a seat, not unlike a stool, or be supplemented with other designs. The largest cubes measure 50 cm on each side.
The selection of cubes is very large, so you can orientate yourself by your desired height and filter according to that: 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100 cm. Here you will discover stately models with dimensions of 100 × 100 × 50 cm or 100 × 80 × 40 cm, which gives you an enormous amount of scope for your garden planning.
Are you interested in the more elongated standard gabions to border paths? The following dimensions are suitable for this and as a fence:
100 × 80 × 20 cm
100 × 80 × 40 cm
100 × 90 × 20 cm
100 × 90 × 30 cm
100 × 100 × 30 cm
100 × 100 × 40 cm
With all these versions, you opt for a comparatively narrow depth.
From a height of 80 cm, we recommend the installation of posts for stabilisation.
